French research and education about Asia
On the 18th June 2001, the RESEAU ASIE-Asia Network was created by an initiative taken by some researchers and supported by the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research (MENESR), National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Foundation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (FMSH), National Foundation of Political Science (FNSP), and School of Higher Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS).
It brings together and connects scholars, researchers, PhD students and experts across fifty countries and cultural regions of East, Central, South Asia, including the Pacific Rims. This scientific community is estimated to have around 1,500 persons in France.
About us
The RESEAU Asie-Asia Network: creation of a federative structure
The initiators of the Asia Network have fixed four main goals:
1 make a list of the available powers and bring them together, in order to identify their possible insufficiencies, but more so to be able to mobilize them, ensuring the greatest visibility and publicity for their work
2 developp conditions for them to work together on problems that will not be anymore restricted to one country, one language or one culture, but that will run across all issues concerning a part or the whole of the Asian continent
3 draw the interests and curiosity of specialists from other regions or other disciplines towards Asia
4 create, in Europe, a hub of skills linked to a datebase drawn up by each country, therefore quite tightly structured to cooperate on an equal basis with similar hubs in Asia, and in North or South America.
