Sara NACER is a film director, screenwriter and producer.

She is known for LA ROCKEUSE DU DÉSERT (2022), QU'ILS PARTENT TOUS ! / Yetnehaw gaâ ! (2019) (2019, 56 mins 45s).


Originally from Algeria, Sara Nacer is an award-winning emerging filmmaker based in Montreal (Quebec - Canada).
Recognized in Montreal for her contribution to the promotion of cultural diversity, she has produced several major events and projects and has also produced several sold-out Music shows at La Place des Arts (Montreal).
Since her arrival in Montreal, Sara has focused on promoting cultural diversity. In 2013, she founded SN Production. She has produced a documentary film, music videos, been a member of jury in a film festival, and more. SN Production is in several partnerships with music, visual arts and film festivals.

Her first documentary film "Qu'ils partent tous" (2019, 56 mins 45s), shot in Algeria at the heart of the smile revolution highlights the socio-cultural awakening of the young generation. Released in December 2019, the film broke records at the Cinémathèque Québécoise, with several sold-out screenings and great media coverage.
Sara Nacer won the Best Documentary Film Award at the 20th Image et Vie Film Festival 2020 (Dakar, Senegal), as well as two distinctions at the 36th Vues d'Afrique International Film Festival in Montreal (the LOGIQ Award for a promising filmmaker and the Mobilité francophone Grant).

In 2022, she directs'La Rockeuse du désert- The Desert Rocker', feature film, portrait of Hasna El Becharia, the first woman to play the guembri in the Gnawa musical tradition. Selected at more than 50 festivals, the film receives 6 awards and is broadcast on BBC Documentary in 2023.

Driven by her passion for Salim Halali, she spends 10 years traveling the world to collect testimonies from those who knew him. She is currently developing a feature documentary ("Salim", co-written with Jeffrey BRAVERMAN) and a fiction series about her legend.

Memory and music are at the heart of her artistic approach, which she also explores through musical productions, virtual reality, and fiction.
