Founded in 1962, the Cinémathèque de Grenoble aims to preserve and promote the film heritage. Its collections count 8,500 silver copies, its documentary fund is rich with tens of thousands of documents. The Cinémathèque organizes a hundred screenings per year, workshops and internships.
Since 1978, the Cinémathèque organises the Grenoble Open-Air Short Film Festival, the oldest short film festival in France.
