For 50 years, a man has been planting baobabs in his village in western Burkina Faso. At first, his actions were met with incomprehension. Now, at the age of 82, more than 4,600 baobabs stretch as far as the eye can see. El Hadj Salifou Ouédraogo has spent more than two-thirds of his life planting baobabs. It's a struggle and above all a life devoted to ensuring the existence of these majestic, thousand-year-old trees, which are rare and endangered in the African savannah.
