In November 2006, the members of a scientific expedition called "Santo 2006" came to Vanuatu, in the Espiritu Santo island, to make an inventory of the biodiversity. The scientists were settled in a local built base camp in the middle of the forest, a few miles away from the small village of Penaoru. A few months later, the villagers recount their involvement in the mission, and express mixed feelings about this unprecedented event.
