Hotel des Mille Collines is located in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.

Historical connections aside, the hotel is a relatively bland and conventional city centre facility with over 100 rooms, but comfortable, reliable enough and with a little bit more intimacy than the other more business oriented facilities around town.
We quite often include Hotel des Mille Collines in mid-range trips, usually when an overnight transit stop is needed in order to connect to late arriving or early departing international flights.

During the 1994 genocide, this hotel sheltered over 1000 Tutsi refugees from the Hutu militia, an episode which was brought to the attention of the world in the movie Hotel Rwanda, although it was actually shot in South Africa.
