The seventh edition of the Italian Jazz Festival, now rebranded to MUSICA festival which begins on Saturday October 18 features a host of amazing local and international artistes.



The weeklong festival which is an annual event will take place at various venues in the capital which are Italian Club, Embassy of Italy, Zimbabwe German Society, Book Cafe, Misty's, Megga 2, 7 Arts Theatre, and Sam Levy's Village.



Explaining the rebranding of the festival, Italian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Enrico De Agostini said, "By calling it Musica, we mean to say that everyone is welcome as long as they are able to communicate their emotions through music."



"This year our friends from the Zimbabwe German Society have embraced the idea and Feindrehstar, a band from Germany, will make a special appearance at Musica 2014, along with other big names from Italy, Zimbabwe and Mozambique," added De Agostini.



In a statement on the festival De Agostinisaid, "Music is a language that unites people, MUSICA will this year bring together the very best of artistes from local, regional and international platforms in order to fully promote a meaningful cultural exchange among artistes.



Iconic superstar Oliver Mtukudzi will make his second appearance at the festival where he will deliver a lecture on the ethic and philosophy of being an international artist and public figure to those who will participate in the festival's workshop programme.



Local artistes who are set to perform during the festival include Patience Musa, Dudu Manhenga, African Pride, Alexio Kawara and Shades of Black, Evicted and Jam Signal.



Italian artistes expected to grace the festival include Andrea Caggiari, Andrea Valeri, Puglia Jazz Factory and Enzo Favata.



MUSICA festival is not just mere entertainment, it is also an opportunity to develop the artistes' skills both from a creative and a professional perspective. International artistes will also have opportunities to share ideas and learn from our local artistes.



MUSICA festival is put together by the Italian Embassy in Harare in a bid to promote and sustain the cultural diversity among nations.
