Airtel Trace Music Star Malawi winner Sam Mjura Mkandawire, award winning gospel musician Faith Mussa, Afro-soul musician Peter Mawanga and Marlyin Chakwera are carrying the Malawi flag to Harstad, Norway where they will perform at the Northern Norway Arts Festival on tomorrow and Thursday.
In an interview from Germany yesterday, Mussa said he will join his colleagues in Norway today.
"Mawanga, Mjura, Marlyin Chakwera and myself did a project with the Norwegian Embassy in Malawi that is focused on promoting Malawi's forgotten music. We subsequently recorded a 10-track album which won the hearts of the organisers of the Arts Festival of Northern Norway, securing us a spot at the annual festival in Harstad and later in Zanzibar," said Mussa.
Mussa said their participation in the festival exposes Malawian music and also gives them a chance to learn new things.
"We will be interacting with artists from all over the world. And we will have a chance to finish the recordings in light of the launch of the project later this year.
"As an individual it is a plus for my career. I have toured many countries and my music is maturing in a different way. As an individual, it is a moment of national pride when travelling for such big festival performances," said the Desperate hit-maker.
The pack of four will perform in Tanzania at Sautiza Busala and in USA later this year
