Mains grew up in the country of Grenada, West Indies in a home filled with art. Son of Susan Mains, one of Grenada's leading artists, it wasn't long before art also filled his head and hands. Asher began exhibiting art work in 1995 and has been painting ever since. Mains studied Intercultural studies for a Bachelor's degree in the US before going on to study art as well as business and economics.
Having been exposed to a variety of cultures and perspectives, Mains is highly adaptive and produces work that reflects a global citizenship. Using a conceptual palette of culture, ethnicity, race, and philosophy, the ground of Mains' work is the backdrop for what invariably amounts to the human experience. Now a full time artist, Mains is committed to the application of paint on surface in ways that are innovative as well as aesthetically bold.
