Carla FONSECA, obsessed with telling stories, believes in the power of healing through theatre. Since graduating (BA Theatre & Performance) from the University of Cape Town in 2010, she has focused her work on South Africa's historical and current societal traumas for nearly a decade. Carla is vigorous in helping encourage a stronger theatre & performance art culture within Southern Africa. Her work includes a variety of media to achieve her creative objectives. She draws most of her inspiration from personal experiences, street art, lowbrow art, African tradition and global affairs. Her zeal lies within Avant Garde theatre and installation based performance art. Having written and directed Burkinabé (2019) alongside Nthato Mokgata, this is Carla Fonseca's first foray into the fictional feature film realm.
