Born in 1984 in Montreal, Canada. She completed a degree in film studies and works as a writer, director, producer and cinematographer. Following a number of short films, "Cette maison - This House" (2022) is her feature debut.

Her six short films and her first feature shape a coherent and powerful work on issues of mourning, memory and origins. Together, they form a song, a gospel, inhabited by souls in pain. Shot in film, mixing Haitian, English and French languages, documentary, experimental and fictional, her protean cinema evokes a dive into his memories. Her feature film CETTE MAISON - THIS HOUSE is part of the TIFF Top 10 in 2022 (Toronto).

In 2023, the FIFF (Créteil International Women Films Festival) hosted the first retrospective of Miryam Charles in France, on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 6:30 pm.
An opportunity to exchange with her and make the French public discover the great singularity of this cinematographic language that she spontaneously invents.

From Haitian descent, Miryam Charles is a director, producer and cinematographer living in Montreal. Her films have been presented in various festivals internationally.
"Cette maison" (2022) is her debut feature film; it had its world premiere at Berlinale Forum and has been screened at festivals worldwide, winning awards at Indie Lisboa, Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival, Montréal Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, and Indie Memphis. Her ongoing work explores themes related to exile and the legacies of colonization.
Her second feature-length fiction film "La marabout" is currently in production.
