Mohamed HEFZY is an Egyptian screenwriter and producer, with an evolving filmography of more than 40 feature films including worldwide acclaimed titles Clash (2016), Sheikh Jackson (2017), Luxor (2020), and Feathers (2021). He served as a jury member in various international festivals including the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and the 75th Venice International Film Festival. As of its 40th edition and for four consecutive years; Mohamed Hefzy was the appointed President of the Cairo International Film Festival.

In 2005, He founded Film Clinic; the now pioneer production house in the MENA region with a variety of commercial blockbusters & Art house films that have participated in major film festivals worldwide including; Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Sundance, Toronto, and Tribeca with more than 100 international awards under its belt. Later Hefzy founded Film Clinic Indie Distribution, with a mission to create opportunities for Arab independent films within and beyond festival circuits & Co- founded Meem Creative Circle which produced Netflix's first Egyptian original series; Paranormal.

Hefzy was cited among 30 future leaders in film production by Screen International, headed Variety's list of Ten names you need to know in the Arab Film Industry and was among Variety's 500 list of the most influential people in the media industry worldwide. He was granted the Arab Cinema Personality of the Year award by the Hollywood Reporter & Arab Cinema Center. Hefzy is an official member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts And Sciences in the producers' branch. In recognition of his significant contribution to the Arab film scene, He was honored as a "Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres" from France.


Within 10 years since he started in the film business as a screenwriter Hefzy was able to produce a successful movie in the box-office as well as with the critics and to become regarded as an important producer in the film business. Subsequently, Good News Cinema Magazine elected him as one of the 50 most powerful people working in film business around the Arab world for 2008, in the annual list of the 50 most influential figures in the Arab Cinema Industry.

His interest in cinema exists since his childhood. Despite his work in his family's business, he went to London to study. The experience brought him closer to world of art which lead him to the decision to study film directing. This led him to the challenge of writing his very first film in English.

Later, Mohamed Hefzy met the filmmaker Tarek El Arian, and together with him Hefzy co-wrote El Selem Wel Teban in 1999. This film, which was screened in 2001, brought the attention of the Egyptian filmmakers to the talented screenwriter, which led to increasing offers on the table of the young man. Hefzy waited three years until his second film Tito was in theatres which was also directed by Tarek El Arian. Hefzy's success kept increasing with his next movies: Malaki Eskendriya, El Turbiny, Fatah Einak and 45 Days. His scripts vary in genre from action, romance, and comedy to drama.

In 2006, Hefzy founded Film Clinic, and later co-founded the company Media Clinic which specializes in TV production. In addition to the management of Film Clinic, Hefzy still maintains his writing activity in Aswar El Kamar, which is still in production: a new collaboration with the director Tarek El Arian. His ambition for the upcoming period is to provide the market with his own scripts in addition to the activities of his company in production and film services and he's looking forward to achieving more widespread success locally and internationally.

His work was and is always received with great acclaim by audiences and award committees. Prizes he won include Best Screenwriter 2007, Egyptian Oscar festival for his feature 45 Days, Best Screenwriter 2005, Catholic Film Festival for Malaki Eskenderia, Best Screenwriter 2005 Nile FM listeners Poll and 2nd Prize for Best Egyptian Film from Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean Cinema 2005 for Malaki Eskenderia.

عشر سنوات تفصل بين بداية دخول السينارست والمنتج محمد حفظي الوسط السينمائي المصري كمؤلف لأفلام نالت تقدير الجمهور والنقاد، وكمنتج نجح في الحصول على مكانة مميزة في زمن قياسي، إلى أن تواجد ضمن قائمة أقوى 50 شخصية سينمائية في العالم العربي لعام 2008 والتي تطلقها سنويا مجلة جود نيوز سينما.


ارتبط محمد حفظي بالسينما منذ صغره رغم أنه ينتمي لعائلة ذات اسم كبير في عالم الصناعة، لكن تواجده في لندن للدراسة منتصف التسعينيات ساعده على الاقتراب كثيرا من حدود عالم الفن، وبعدما قرر دراسة الإخراج السينمائي أولاً، وجد نفسه تلقائيا يكتب أول فيلم له باللغة الإنجليزية.


بعدها التقى بالمخرج طارق العريان الذي اطلع على نص حفظي الأول وعرض عليه أن يشاركه كتابة فيلم السلم والثعبان عام 1999 وخرج الفيلم بالفعل للجمهور عام 2001 ليلتف صناع السينما في مصر إلى اسم جديد ذو جاذبية خاصة في عالم السيناريو، الأمر الذي أدى لتزايد العروض على طاولة المؤلف الشاب، لكنه انتظر ثلاث سنوات قبل أن تعرض الصالات المصرية فيلمه الثاني تيتو للمخرج طارق العريان أيضاً، ثم توالت بعدها الأعمال الناجحة مثل ملاكي إسكندرية، التوربيني، فتح عينيك و 45 يوم. وتنوعت أعماله ما بين الأكشن، الدراما النفسية، الرومانسية والكوميديا.


في عام 2006 أسس محمد حفظي شركة فيلم كلينك، ثم شارك لاحقا في تأسيس شركة ميديا كلينك للإنتاج التليفزيوني. وإلى جانب إدارته لشركة فيلم كلينك ما زال حفظي محافظا على نشاطه كسيناريست، حيث يتم تصوير أحدث أفلامه كمؤلف وهو أسوار القمر في تعاون جديد مع المخرج طارق العريان. كما يطمح خلال المرحلة المقبلة في تقديم مجموعة من السيناريوهات التي تحمل توقيعه في خط مواز مع الأفلام التي يقوم بإنتاجها، والتي يتطلع لأن تحقق الكثير من النجاحات في السوق السينمائية المحلية أو العالمية.


حصل محمد حفظي على عدة جوائز من مهرجانات ومناسبات سينمائية مختلفة مثل: أوسكار السينما المصرية كأفضل سيناريو عن 45 يوم عام 2007، أفضل سيناريو عن فيلم ملاكي إسكندرية عام 2005 من مهرجان المركز الكاثوليكي للسينما، أفضل سيناريست لعام 2005 من استفتاء إذاعة نايل إف إم المصرية، والجائزة الثانية ضمن مسابقة الأفلام المصرية في مهرجان الإسكندرية السينمائي الدولي لدول البحر المتوسط عام 2005 عن فيلم ملاكي إسكندرية.
