Sanaa EL ALAOUI (سناء العلاوي | ⵙⴰⵏⴰⴰ ⴰⵍⵄⴰⵍⴰⵡⵉ) is a Film director and screenwriter (not to be confused with the actress and screenwriter Sanaa ALAOUI).

She is known for her films films TITRIT (upcoming), AÏCHA (2025, Director, Screenwriter), ICARUS (2020, Director).

Sanaa El Alaoui is a Moroccan director and screenwriter known for her underground aesthetic and bold exploration of postcolonial identity. A graduate of Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, where her research on the art of the long take in filmic language earned her the Best Thesis of the Year award, and the University of Oxford, where she explored the evolution of Moroccan cinema from its colonial past to the post-colonial present, Sanaa brings a unique perspective to her work. Her directorial debut, "Icarus", a Hungarian short documentary, garnered critical acclaim, winning the Bronze Award for Best Short Documentary at the 4th Quarter of the Queen Palm International Film Festival in California, Best Short Documentary at the International Film Festival of Oued Noun, the Grand Prize for Best Short Film at the National Film Festival of Cinema of the Margin in Guercif, and the Jury Award for Best Short Film at the International Film Festival of Casablanca. Sanaa's first short fiction, "Aicha" (2025)-a 25-minute film exploring postcolonial identity through an underground lens-further cements her unique voice in Moroccan cinema. As the co-founder of Native Line (along with Piotr Kaczorowski, Polish Producer), Sanaa continues to push boundaries with a focus on untold, marginalized stories and the hidden forces shaping Morocco's culture.
