The preparation of OUAGA FILM LAB's 5th edition is taking place in the context of the Coronavirus pandemic which has affected all continents and continues to claim lives in many countries. The measures taken in most countries have forced the cessation of economic activities, the closing of borders, the cancellation of international flights. The consequences in the cultural sector, which seems to be one of the most affected, have been the cancellation of festivals, the closure of theaters and cinemas, the suspension of shootings... In order to allow many events to take place, the massive use of online services has imposed itself as a palliative solution.

Nowadays, the crisis seems to subside with the ending of national lockdowns and the opening of many frontiers. Even if some impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are already clear, it is hard to imagine how the situation will evolve during the next weeks and months. Obviously, OUAGA FILM LAB 2020, as many other cultural events, has to integrate this in its strategy for the 5th edition.

By mutual agreement with our mentors and partners, the Lab's team has decided that this 5th edition WILL BE MAINTAINED and held from November 2nd to 7th 2020.
The discussions we have had with our mentors and partners made possible to draw several scenarios dealing with the format, the place and a realistic period of implementation for this incubator.

The list of the 10 selected projects will be communicated on July 15th, 2020.

Counting on the availability of mentors, participants and our partners to accompany us in this special edition, we would like to reassure all of these partners and the filmmaking community about our commitment to the development of the film industry in Africa.
