For the second consecutive season, the Kenyan pavilion at the Venice Biennale is mostly occupied by Chinese and foreign artists. In 2013 already, public opinion was outraged by the absence of Kenyan artists at the Kenya Pavilion of the Venice Biennale, which is one of the world's most watched events for the visual arts scene.

This year, renowned artists such as Michael Soy, Binyavanga Wainaina, Jimmy Ogonga and Maggie Otieno, amongst others, were quick to show their concern about the situation, which is becoming a habit for the Ministry of Culture.
