I use a variety of medium like watercolour, oils, acrylics ink and a host of other materials in my work. He is working on the need to revolutionalize the art system in Ghana is on the high and with adequate financial and logistic support we will attain our true status on the globe."

Julius Marfo Frimpong makes realistic, semi-abstract and abstract works in different mediums, like painting, collage, pen and ink, textiles. He prefers working on realistic paintings, as realistic works can easily be understood, both by people within and without the art world. He finds his inspiration in his surroundings: markets, the sea shore, lorry parks, busy streets, etcetera. He also likes to depict the cultural values of Africa and Ghana.

According to Julius Marfo Frimpong concept must go together with beauty, because beauty is what makes someone attracted to the work. If the concept is there and the work is not beautiful, the essence is missing. Making art is important to Julius Marfo Frimpong, because through art he is able to portray nature in his own way and he can create awareness on social issues. Often Julius Marfo Frimpong attaches certain boldness to his work. He expresses varied ideas and is very experimental with materials. He uses a medium called ‘aciduro', which is the use of aluminium rust and lemon juice, which develops in a black solution that comes to be used as a monochrome form of painting. He uses it as a watercolour medium.

In the future Julius Marfo Frimpong intends to have a gallery where young artists can exhibit works and get inspiration from established artists. At times he already educates young artists who come for advise.
