Zahra Benasri has always been passionate about writing, and was born and raised in Liège, Belgium, by parents of Moroccan origin. After studying political science with a focus on the European Union, she realised that she wanted to tell stories, but not in a parliament, but rather on the big screen. She believes that in art, and therefore in film, there is something political. She now works in the film industry, in international distribution.

She has made a short fiction film, "La petite honte", which has been selected for a number of festivals around the world, including Spain, Japan, the Netherlands, Romania, Italy and the United States. At Vues d'Afrique 2022, it was screened in the "Regards sur la relève" category. The film won Best International Short Film at the Cameroon International Film Festival.
