Launched on Goree Island, Senegal at a conference "Revitalising Africa's Cultural Assets" from 5-7 March 2007, Arterial Network celebrates its fifth anniversary in early March. Plans to mark the event with a cultural policy seminar focusing on freedom of expression in Africa at Goree Island, have been postponed owing to political uncertainty in Senegal following the Presidential elections. Instead, Wednesday 7 March has been declared internally as "Arterial Network Day" and all national chapters - as well as associates elsewhere - are invited to mark the occasion in some way e.g. a seminar on a cultural policy issue, a media briefing outlining in the progress and achievements of Arterial Network to date, a networking session for members and even a party! If members and associates do celebrate in some way, send pictures and information to espera@arterialnetwork.org to upload onto our website.
