Director: Marie Wilke / 80 Minutes, 2015 German
At the Saxony-Anhalt Police Academy, the young cadets have just begun their training. Alongside theoretical instruction, discussions, exercises and role playing while having their first concrete experiences as riot police officers. The pressure to which they are increasingly exposed does not build from spectacular crimes, but from the daily misery involving conflicts with hooligans, right-wing radicals and domestic violence. Marie Wilke's "Staatsdiener" is the first German documentary to examine police training in Germany without any restrictions or influence.
