The International JAMAICA OchoRios Jazz Festival June 9-17, 2007 will celebrate 17 years of consistent artistic success, presenting the best of Jamaican musical talent and some of the most famous names in International Jazz.
The past ten years have seen the emergence of a variety of'Jazz Festivals', at home and abroad. We of the OchoRios Jazz Festival are pleased and justly proud of our leadership role in the jazz movement, as many other Caribbean festivals have adopted the innovative features first introduced by our planners and co-ordinators, including the extension of the festival period from'one-dayers' and weekend events, to ten day presentations.
The Jamaica OchoRios Jazz Festival June 9-17, this year highlighting'World Jazz' will be the focal point of JAZZ MONTH, culminating, as it does, with the closing Fathers Day concert appreciating fathers internationally - "Take Dad to Jazz".
JUNE IS JAZZ MONTH will expose and feature every Jamaican musician and singer with jazz ambitions as well as invited international artistes and groups who have performed in the Festival before and new artistes seeking a breakthrough. Those musicians who have appeared over the years have always expressed, "I would return in a minute, in a heartbeat". We are dedicated to making JUNE IS JAZZ MONTH a permanent feature of the Tourism and Cultural calendar.
