As usual, the annual event will be organised by Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Professorial Chair in Pan African Studies, whose chairperson in renowned law guru Prof Issa Shivji.

According to the distinguished scholar, more than 30 guests from outside Tanzania are expected to participate in the event "which is likely to be the highlight of the festivals since we organised the fist one in 2009".

Another highlight of the festival will be presentations on social movements in Brazil, South Africa and Tanzania made by Prof Amilcar Araujo Pereira of the Faculty of Education of Brazil's Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Dr Oupa Lehulere of Johannesburg's Khanya College and Tanzania Gender Networking Programme executive director Ussu Mallya, respectively.

Most of the festival's third and last day will be spent on a comparative analysis of Tanzania's Arusha Declaration of 1967 and "Vision 2025" as declarations of intent with a direct bearing on the country's social and economic development.
