Just before our summer break, Santuri is delighted to announce a super-special event. We are proud to host Mario Galeano Toro a.k.a Frente Cumbiero for his first ever performance in East Africa, thanks to the Colombian Embassy in Nairobi and Santuri East Africa.

About Mario:

Riding nonstop through the cumbia land, FRENTE CUMBIERO has set to explore the sonic identity that cumbia represents for Latin America. Led by Mario Galeano Toro, colombian composer and musicologist,
FRENTE CUMBIERO is recognized as a spearhead of the new cumbia movement in Colombia. Onstage, the Solo Live Set showcases groove oriented music for the dancefloor, combining electronics, synths, keyboards and sequences performed and dubbed live to deliver a powerful dose of colombian tropical sounds.

Having performed on stages in South and Central America, Europe, United States, Rusia, Australia and New Zealand and with vinyl 33 and 45 rpm releases by labels from USA (Names You Can Trust), UK
(Soundway) and Spain (Vampisoul), FRENTE CUMBIERO through their forward thinking projects and collaborations with legendary musicians have proved to be on the path of expanding cumbia and latin music frontiers.

What's more, the 14th edition of Santuri Society in Dar doubles as a record release party for our first 12 inch vinyl release on London's HighLife label - featuring tracks we recorded with Esa Mervin Granger Williams, Ohanglaman Makadem, and SARABI last year.
