Passion, politics and poverty collide as this stunning love story unfolds against a backdrop of political turmoil.
"You cannot fight the righteous battle with weapons of war, or else you will join the army of destruction"
A stunning love story unfolding at one of the most violent moments in Jamaican history, when rival gangs were enlisted by warring political factions to disrupt the democratic process - and bloodshed was unleashed on the streets.
In Kingston, Jamaica, in the late 1970s, the two main political parties enlist the support of gangs to enforce their policies and advance their political agenda. Young Ricky is a community leader and father, whose gang is aligned to one party. One day he meets Kamala, who belongs to a community controlled by the other party, and the two instantly connect. Will their love triumph, or will bigger forces win the day? Based on true events.
