Ayoub, 13, years old, is a young shoe shoper, he dreams of buying a leg prosthesis of his disabled mother. Jad, 40 years old, is a brilliant entrepreneur,. He seems to have everything in life, but is still obsessed with the idea of freeing himself from his dead father. His wife, Ghita, 28 years old, unhappy in her marriage, owns an art gallery. She is ready to do anything to expose the work of a painter who fascinates her. Mr. Faridi, 55 years old, a politician, lost his son in a car accident. He tries to fill his lack of tenderness by the paid services of a young woman, Aida, 25, a young hospital intern who leads a double life.
A shoe shiner Ayoub, a bourgeois couple, Jad and Ines in a loveless marriage, a wealthy but ailing art collector, and a young medical student Aida moonlighting as an escort, each interaction forever changing them and setting them on an irreversible trajectory towards catharsis or total collapse.
BurnOut is a film about the grinding down of hope by the contradictory values and morals of Moroccan society and how a mere chance encounter can throw everything that is taken for granted as normal and correct into question once one has glimpsed the possibility of the love and companionship that lies just beyond the walls of the Moroccan society.
