Marek leads an isolated life in the mountains with his half-disabled father. He survives by poaching animals, which his father sells in the nearest village since the son cannot come out of his hiding and risk recruitment into the army fighting an ongoing war. A wounded enemy female soldier is found by Marek, and as she becomes fully dependent on his and his father's care, they both risk the death penalty if she is found. Marek's adolescent sexuality is painfully awakened while for the father the woman becomes a threat as she may steal away his son. Marek is torn between responsibility for his father, his longing for the mother he never knew and his desire for the guest.
