The Achoura festival in Marrakech is the privileged moment for music. The whole medina vibrates to the sound of the frame drums of the Dekka, of the female musicians of Aïta and of the Mwazniya, who play violin while dancing, as well as to the sound of the neffar, the long copper trumpet. The groups of each neighbourhood compete with virtuosity in the narrow alleys of the old town, before expressing their joyous nature during the nzaha, the pastoral gathering that takes place in the Menara gardens, to the rhythm of the violins and the voices of the cheikhates.
