The Meke Dance Group was created in 2011 and is part of the Fiji Youth Initiative. The group is made  of Fijian-Australian young people, performing the traditional Meke dance for various people and events. The group were created by young people who wanted to learn more about their cultural heritage, and mixes different origins from the Pacific : Maoris, Fijian, Cook islander… The meke is a traditional Fijian dance performed during ceremonies and festivals. This dance, traditionally symbolizes the ancient warriors of the village. Women and male have differents dances and movements and wear special traditional clothes and ornaments for the performance.
