Since 1998, Mondomix has been committed to covering and promoting worldwide music and culture.

Mondomix gives a rare platform to music from all over the world, from exquisite traditions to the most cutting-edge 21st Century sounds. The artists we cover do not often get exposure in mainstream media. Their work is the sound of diversity. And our work gives a global audience the chance to experience worldwide culture in a way which in 1998 was pioneering and in 2011 is more essential than ever.

Mondomix delivers high quality journalism to the maximum audience (the French and English editions had 682, 533 unique visitors in Sept 2010). Our unique and original editorial content is updated daily and includes videos, interviews, reports and reviews. We pay our writers and contributors. Our website is a dynamic resource, including a download service offering an unparalleled specialist catalogue of over 200,000 world music tracks.

We believe our approach gives the strongest possible platform to our commitment to the defence of cultural diversity. This approach also has a price.

For twelve years, Mondomix has generated its own funds through artistic and cultural projects beyond our media activities. Mondomix produces documentaries, events and exhibitions, designs websites and publishes books. But for several months we have been feeling the effects of the global economic downturn and this is threatening the future of Mondomix.com

Rather than turning Mondomix.com into a subscriber-only website, we have decided to remain free, and thereby continue to speak to the greatest number of people. We do not want to charge for access to culture…because culture is not a luxury!
