Multitalented musician Shae Mill (Shae Miller) has released her latest single, Sweet Love (Even If I Lie), a song she expects to widen her audience base and boost her career as a vocalist.
The February release comes seven months after her debut single, A You Mi Love, and once again signals her intention to shed the memories of a tragic story.
"Sweet Love is basically saying I don't want to be lonely tonight, I just need some company," Miller told Entertainment Avenue.
"It's a little more mature than my last release, edgier, but I got to do more of myself in it. I got to do some singing, I got to do my deejay stuff, so I was more relaxed for this track. It's a crossover, it's more R&B/dancehall, so it's like a really smooth dancehall," she said.
The single was produced by Tri-Bes Music Group and recorded at St Ann's JMS Studio, an experience Miller describes as being fun.
"With this song, I'm looking to reach a wider audience. A You Mi Love was very safe, it was a safe song to start with, this song is more edgy.
That so-called safe song is doing well, though.
"The video is doing great, the feedback is great, even better than I expected, the media say they like the sound and that it's clean and stuff like that."
Miller is also voicing some tracks for DJ Quantum and has New York and Japan links that are working to propel her career overseas.
As a producer, Miller is also busy in the studios working on her own material, some of which should hit the streets later this year.
"Look out for songs like Mawga Dawg and Mi Waa Yuh, they should be on the road before too long."
Miller seems on the road to success, however, it was just three years ago, next month, that the world received news that sent shock waves through everyone.
A policeman turned his gun on his wife and her family in Three Hills, St Mary, killing four and leaving her crippled.
In the tragedy, Miller lost her maternal grandparents, an uncle and a niece. Her aunt remains paralysed.
Miller seems to be using that experience to strengthen herself as she seeks to establish her career.
"I am moving ahead with my career," she said.
