Emerging fashion Designer, Ishmael Tsakatsa, whose label, Zargue'sia, wowed judges and audiences alike at the 2014 edition of Zimbabwe Fashion Week (ZFW), was last night named Zimbabwe's Designer of the Year.

Tstakatsa's collection at ZFW 2014 was awe-inspiring and stood out with its crisp, clean silhouettes & frilly detailing in a maroon, white & black theme.

It's been steady progression for Tsakatsa who has showcased at ZFW for the last three years. In 2012 he escaped the nominees list completely. Then last year he was nominated for the young Designer of the Year Award. The award went on to be won by Sarudzai Murungu.

But this was to be his year. He told Zimbo Jam after winning that he was excited and overwhelmed. The award has given him a boost in confidence. "Next year I am planning on moving to showcase outside Zimbabwe and I am looking at how I can open more retail outfits for my clothes."

Zimbo Jam contributor, Ameera Murad Ameer, was named blogger of the year for her fresh fashion perspective on her blog, Just Mimi. Creative and experimental photographer Michelle Fortmann, was deservedly named photographer of the year.

Ndau Collection won Accessories Designer of the Year for the second year running.

The Male Model of the Year Award went to Mervyn Uahupirapi of Namibia. The tall, hot Mervyn had women screaming and cheering for him throughout the fashion week. Jordyn Miller was named Female Model of the Year.

Other awards were Style Icon of the Year: Craig Zoowie, Young Designer of the Year: Natsai Mujuru and Emerging Designer of the Year: Kuda Chihungwa.

The Awards Ceremony, which took place in a big marquee outside the Harare City Library,  the venue for this year's ZFW, was a glamorous affair that saw Hararians come out dressed to kill.

Hosts for the evening were ZiFM presenter Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa and model & entrepreneur Marshall Mutsamirwa. Entertainment was provided by multiple-award winning band Mokoomba, and hip hoppers MMT and Karizma.
