We are a multidisciplinary institution. We organise and host activities: exhibitions, music, dance, courses, debates, lectures, city walks....
We are a team who gives support for artistic and creative experimentation. We are open to new languages; we look for new exhibition formats
We are urban. A centre dedicated to cities and the phenomena they generate; because they have become the social, urbanistic and cultural catalyst of our times.
We are public, the result of a consortium of the Diputació de Barcelona (Barcelona County Council) and the Ajuntament de Barcelona (Barcelona Municipal Council).
We are at the Casa de la Caritat. This old building, located in the Raval district, opened its doors again in February 1994.
We are one of the pieces in the cultural jigsaw puzzle of nineties Barcelona. We are part of the city's new cultural area, together with the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), the Palau de la Virreina (exhibition centre), the Biblioteca de Catalunya (Library of Catalonia), the Universitat Ramon Llull, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Opera House), the Centre d'art Santa Mònica (arts centre) and the Museu Marítim (Maritime Museum).

The CCCB is a public consortium founded by the Diputació de Barcelona and the Ajuntament de Barcelona with the aim of administering a multidisciplinary and thematic cultural project for cities.

The governing body of the consortium is: a General Council chaired by the president of the Diputació de Barcelona, with the mayor of Barcelona as vice-president. Josep Ramoneda is the director of the CCCB
