The NFVF is a statutory body mandated by a progressive act of Parliament to spearhead the equitable growth and development of the South African film and video industry.

Our mission

To create an environment that develops and promotes the South African film and video industry domestically and internationally.

Our vision

A quality South African film and video industry that mirrors and represents the nation, sustains commercial viability, encourages development and provides a medium through which the creative and technical talents of South Africans are able to reach the world.

The Foundation's Goals

Since inception, the NFVF has developed a number of evolving strategies and programmes which embrace the goals outlined below.


* Develop and streamline relationships between the industry, government agencies and regulatory bodies.

* Access funds from the public and private sectors.

* Provide and disburse funding for training, development, production, exhibition, marketing and distribution.

* Facilitate skills development, film education and training.

* Plan, monitor and measure national strategies for the industry and liaise with government on policy formulation.

* Facilitate development of local content and production.

* Promote development of South African film and television audiences.

* Facilitate the export of South African film and video product talent.
