The Niyo Cultural Centre, founded by NIYONSENGA Pacifique, teaches street children traditional Rwandan drumming and dance.
NIYONSENGA Pacifique is the founder of the Niyo Cultural Centre dedicated to improving the lives of street children. He lived on the street from age 6 but was lucky enough to have met a Canadian called Bruno who befriended him and helped him get an education.
Intore dance is the traditional Ballet of Rwanda, the use of the word Ballet stems from Belgian colonial rule. Intore has been refined over centuries, making it one of Africa's oldest and least exposed musical traditions. Intore is also called 'the Dance of Heroes', Kubyina, gushayaya n' Intore is the dance performed by both men and women.
