Serge Blumental and Evelyne Guichet created Perla Films in 1991. Their project was to promote high quality films for a large audience, based on great stories and powerful characters, carried by talented actors: a moving and sensitive cinema.
With this requirement, they have produced about thirty short films, that where widely broadcast either in France as abroad, in theatres, festivals and television channels.
These films succeeded in touching and capturing the audience. Nominated for the Academy Awards (1994) and "Cesar of the best short film" (1995), La Vis (The Screw) directed by Didier Flamand is now a classical; many public awards are real support for our work : The Shoe Laces by Stefan Le Lay, Christmas Accounts by Laurent Metterie, Paper Marriage by Stéphanie Duvivier, etc.
As we consider it, our work first consists in an accompanying act in artistic and technical choices, from writing the screenplay to releasing the film. The choice of authors able to impose the strength of their point of view through direction is our priority.
Nathalie Baye, Jean Reno, Patrick Chesnais, Michel Piccoli, among many other actors, joined us on these young directors' projects, supported by high skilled crews associating great professionals like Agnès Godard or Charlie Van Damme, as well as talented and promising young technicians.
The success of these productions is based on Perla's ability to gather suitable partners either in artistic, technical or financial fields.
Perla Films is now undertaking the development and production of feature films with the same challenge of seducing the audience and joining together on a project the talent and the means of its reality.
