Batsirai E Chigama is a name largely associated with spoken word. Her work is featured in eleven poetry anthologies in USA, England, Italy, New Zealand & Zimbabwe. In 2012 Batsirai became the first Zimbabwean to take part in the Italian Nosside World Poetry competition for which she was awarded a medal and her poem "Ivhu" was featured in the 2012 Nosside Poetry anthology. Batsirai has travelled to participate in a number of festivals in the region. In 2013, she collaborated with the  veteran Scottish poet, Sheila Templeton for an exhibition 'After Livingstone' at the StaNza Poetry Festival, Scotland. 


A published short story writer, Batsirai dedicates some of her time to write on the arts and culture in Zimbabwe for the local website Zimbo Jam. She says she would like to lend her voice to the women whose voices are silenced the world over.
