Emmanuel immigrated with his family to New York City from Port-au-Prince, Haiti at the age of 14.
After graduating from Hunter College with a Bachelor's degree in Media Studies, he decided to follow his dream for filmmaking and began travelling through South America, particularly in Brazil, to experiment with the artform. In 2004 he returned to the United States and enrolled in the Film Production Program at Brooklyn College while gaining experience as a Cameraman/Producer for a WNYE/PBS television show. In 2008 he graduated with an MFA degree from The City College of New York and was fortunate to be awarded the Bert Saperstein Grant to Direct his first documentary film, "Welcome to Batey 6".
Mano currently teaches Film Production at City College while working on other projects.
