IGG Nabwana was born in Kampala, Uganda. Since 2005, he has directed nearly 50 feature films, including Who Killed Captain Alex? (2010), Rescue Team (2011), Bukunja Tekunja Mitti: The Cannibals (2012), The Revenge (2015), and Bad Black (2016). Crazy World (2019) is the first of his films to screen at the Toronto Film Festival.

Ramon Nabwana is a self trained film director and producer and director of photography that went joined the industry in 2005. With special interest in the visual arts like painting and sculpture, Ramon was quickly fascinated by audiovisual media and wasted no time in experimenting and failing for a couple years before coming to grips with the mechanics of filmmaking, which resulted in the formation of his own production house called Ramon Film Productions in 2008. He has since produced a numbers of titles mainly in the local vernacular. These include: Who Killed Captain Alex (2010) which was a local blockbuster hit movie; Rescue Team (2010); Return of Uncle Benon (2011), Kisadaaka, The revenge (2013); Bukunja Tekunja Miti (2012); Bad Black (2013); Valentine (2011); Crazy World (2014, released in 2019), among others.  All Ramon's movies are feature length.

Ramon is one of the most productive local filmmakers with a minimum of two films produced each year. He has largely demystified the notion that to be a filmmaker one must first attend film school. Although his movies were initially dismissed by the uptown audiences as pseudo imitations, Who Killed Captain Alex broke this jinx as people of all walsk of life scrambled for the movies and thus giving him a breakthrough with not only his productions but opening the public eyes to the many erstwhile unseen vernacular productions.

Nabwana Isaac Godfrey Geoffrey (IGG) produces, directs, shoots, writes, and edits action films from his home in the slums of Wakaliga, Uganda.

A self-taught filmmaker, IGG's film education consists of one course in computer repair (he was forced to drop out after the first month due to lack of funds) and his own trial-and-error experiences with cameras and editing equipment. He began filmmaking at age 32, just after the birth of his first child.

While supporting himself and his family as a school teacher, IGG founded Ramon Film Productions (the name is derived from his grandmothers, Rachel and Monica, who raised him and saw the family safely thru Uganda's civil war). Based in the small home he shares with his wife and co-editor, Harriet, and their three children. RFP has produced over 44 feature films since 2005 (as of Jan 2015) and is best-known for Who Killed Captain Alex: Uganda First Action-packed Movie and Tebaatusasula. Trailers for IGG's work have gone viral, but the films themselves remain largely unseen outside the slums surrounding Kampala, Uganda.

IGG shoots his films in Luganda, the dialect of Buganda, Uganda's largest tribe. As is the common in the ghettos of Uganda, his films are presented with a live Video Jockey (VJ), best described as part-narrator, cheerleader, comedian, and slum tour guide.

"Wakaliwood" is a combination of Wakaliga, the slum IGG calls home, and Hollywood. Over the years, IGG has assembled a dedicated team of actors, technicians, prop masters, martial artists, and stunt people who have traveled from all parts of Uganda to be part of his action films. When not shooting, they meet twice a week to rehearse, develop new projects, build equipment out of scrap metal, and distribute DVDs in the local markets. Surprisingly, IGG Nabwana himself has never been to a movie theater.

Ramon Film Productions takes its name from the three most important women in director I.G.G. Nabwana's life: his first daughter and paternal grandmother, both named Rachel, and his maternal grandmother, Monica.
