After completing three short photographic courses at the The Market Theatre Photography Workshop in Johannesburg - Jodi was selected to participate on a photographic training programme at the Star newspaper with the late Ken Oosterbroek in September 1993.

She continued to work there as a photographer leading up to and during South Africa's first democratic elections. 1996 was a turning point. She was chosen to participate in the World Press Master class held in Holland and started working on assignments for publications like NY Times Magazine, Geo and The Sunday Times Magazine. She also works for non- profit organizations like MSF on special projects for booklets and exhibitions.

Over a ten-year period (1994 - 2004) her own project focused on the country of her birth, South Africa - photographing youth living on the fringes of South African society. This work finally found itself a home in a book - "Between Dogs and Wolves - Growing up with South Africa". It has been published and released in five countries in 2006.

Her main focus is on her own long term projects.

Biebers most recent award was the Prix de l'Union Europeene at the Rencontres de Bamako Biennale Africaine de la Photographie, November 2009.

She has won 8 World Press awards, a 1st Place in Picture of the Year International 2009 and received numerous other accolades.

Her fist solo exhibition was at Visa Pour L'Image, Perpignan, France in 2002. Her work has been seen in many shows around the world - the most recent being "Going Home" at Encounters of Bamako'09.'Las Canas' as part of The Human Condition at Noorderlicht Photofestival in Holland September 2009. Bieber has taught or been a guest lecturer at the Market Theatre Photographic Workshop (JHB), London College of Communication (UK), Westminister University (UK), ICP school of Photojournalism (N.Y.) and at Photo Espane. She continues to teach at the Market Photo workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa..

She was a jury member on World Press Awards 2008.

She is represented by The Goodman Gallery in Johannesburg, South Africa. and the Institute for Artist Management based in LA, New York and London.
