Laurent Aït Benalla was born in 1976 to a Moroccan father and a French mother. He is one of the founders of Slab, a production centre for documentaries based in Montpellier. His films, all of which run for less than one hour, include Un couteau et un cœur (2009), Marcel Hanoun, chemin faisant (2010), on the 81-year-old Tunisian director, and Suite anglaise (2011).
Ô mon corps ! ("O my body", 2012, documentary) is his debut feature.

Tra i suoi lavori, tutti della durata inferiore di un'ora, ricordiamo Un couteau et un cœur (2009), Marcel Hanoun, chemin faisant (2010), sull'ottantunenne regista tunisino e Suite anglaise (2011).
