Marwa EL SHARKAWY is a Film Director, Screenwriter, Director of Photography and Producer.

She is known for DEAR WARDA (2022, Director / Screenwriter), TO DANIEL (2023).

Egyptian filmmaker, born in 1989., graduated from Faculty Of Mass Communication - Cairo University, in 2010, studied filmmaking at Cinedelta School in Alexandria and Creative documentary workshop which supported by Cairo International Women's Film Festival.
she directed and produced three short documentaries "The land of gold", "A woman that looks out the window.", and "A Happy journey" which were screened at several international festivals, including the Luxor African Film Festival and the French festival Très Court, her feature film "Forgotten dreams" won the best documentary film award at the International Film Festival in Iran and with a support grant from the Cairo International Women's Film Festival, UNFPA produced her first short drama film ("Dear Ward") on the issue of female circumcision. The short. Le film won the prestigious Paulin Vieyra Award given by African Critics, at 2023 Khouribga African FilmFest).
She directed also several documentaries for several channels such as BBC and Al Jazeera Documentary Channel.
In 2023, her new Documentary "Ikinji's Stories /حواديت إيكنجي" is selected for the 18th edition of the MADAGASCOURT FILM FESTIVAL in the Pan-African Documentary Competition.
