Nate PARKER is an actor, screenwriter, producer and film Director. He is known for American Skin (2019) and The Birth of a Nation (2016).


Born in Norfolk, Virginia, he graduated from the university of Oklahoma. He began his career as an actor and appeared in such films as Denzel Washington's The Great Debaters (2007), Spike Lee's Red Hook Summer (2012), and Jaume Collet-Serra's Non-Stop (2014). In 2015, he wrote, directed and starred in his debut feature film The Birth of a Nation. The film won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2016. His second feature American Skin (2019) won the Best Film Prize (Sconfini section). He is also the founder of the Nate Parker Foundation, a non-profit organization which is dedicated to empowering young black filmmakers.
