He has worked as a dance instructor at the Kampala Ballet and Modern Dance School since late 2007 until December 2011. He is a founding member and Artistic Director of Guerrilla Dance Company which has presented dance creations in Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda.
He joined the contemporary dance scene since 2007, when he performed during the Dance Week Uganda Festival. An accountant by training, he has learned to embrace different forms of movement. His training has been wider ranging as well and he takes classes in classical ballet, modern dance, contemporary African dance as well as traditional Ugandan dance.
Working with different dance companies namely; Keiga Dance Company, Okulamba dance theatre, Stepping stones Dance Company to mention but a few has granted him access to the creative processes of a variety of dance practitioners, informing his experience as a result. This, coupled with the performance opportunities, has led him on the path that has enabled him to harness his potential.
Samuel has a wide range of interests and is a firm believer in investing in others. He is a founding member of Clay, a dance project that trains young people contemporary dance technique, African dance, hip hop as well as creative movement at a local church in the city. He continues to be an integral part of this project.
He is not only restricted to the field of dance, but is also a practicing screenwriter and delves into theatre from time to time. His work in theatre has taken the form of amateur and professional productions and he continues to seek out new possibilities in the fields of theatre and film. The future continues to show a lot of promise for an individual whose sole desire is to make dance accessible to as many Ugandans as possible. Samuel is an aspiring business professional with a desire to provide solutions to the challenges facing mankind today. An artist at heart, his ultimate plan is to set up a Centre of Excellence for the performing arts that will empower Ugandans to explore their cultural identity and open up possibilities for creating innovative cultural practices.
