Shanelle Jewnarain is a writer-director based between Durban and Cape Town (South Africa). Working across documentary, fiction, and experimental forms, her practice interrogates power, identity and belonging through a collaborative, cross-disciplinary lens. Her work has screened at festivals including the Durban International Film Festival and JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Festival, and has received recognition for writing and directing. Grounded in a strong sense of community and a commitment to inclusive storytelling, her debut feature documentary "Womxn: Working" (2025) reflects her ongoing interest in amplifying under-represented voices and challenging dominant narratives through intimate, poetic and purposeful filmmaking.
