Cindy Magara is a professional film scholar, director and producer, born and raised in Uganda. She has a Masters in Literature (Hons, MUK), (2014) where her thesis was: Symbolism in Ugandan Films. Her flourishing film accolades include: Windows of Hope (screenwriter/director/producer), awarded winner of the Best Feature Film in 2012 by the Nile Diaspora International Film Festival; Fair Play (2010, 127 minutes, Docudrama); Fate (an approximately two hour educative feature film, a 2006 production billed to be among the first professional movies made in Uganda and the first Ugandan film to be screened on DStv: Africa Magic channels; directed A Book for Every Child (2011, 33 Minutes, Documentary); Cast Director and Associate Producer of A meal to Forget (2009, 90 minutes, Drama), among others.
Some of her works in progress include a documentary titled My Father's Dreams, about an entrepreneur in Hoima; also working on the epic story of Kabalega, a former king of Bunyoro Kitara kingdom who resisted the British colonialists in the longest war ever fought by any traditional leader in Africa. She is currently an Assistant Lecturer, (Film Studies and Literature in English) at the Department of Literature, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda and director of Nyati Motion Pictures, Kampala Uganda.
