Tony Award nominee and Belfast native Ian McElhinney began his career in 1978 and has since established an extensive repertoire in film, television, and theatre. In addition to numerous stage credits as an actor, including Amphibians, The Cure at Troy, Aristocrats, Pygmalion, Julius Caesar, Twelfth Night, Waiting for Godot, A Woman of No Importance, The Plough and the Stars, and Death of A Salesman , McElhinney has several directorial credits, including A Very Weird Manor, All Being Well, Ruby, and Stones in His Pockets, which earned him a Best Director Tony Award nomination.

Television credits include Coronation Street, The Clinic, Hearts and Minds, Taggart, Wipe Out, and Cold Feet.

McElhinney's film credits include Blind Justice, Small Faces, Michael Collins, Hamlet, A Love Divided, Divorcing Jack, and Omagh. He will next be seen as Cathal Thomas in Richard Attenborough's Closing the Ring.
