210 km to the east of Côte d'Ivoire's economic capital, at Aniansué in the department of Abengourou, the Kômians are fighting to preserve their traditions in a society that is constantly evolving. Animist priestesses and, above all, traditional healers, they possess a divinatory art that enables them to ward off bad luck and heal the sick. This know-how is taught in the country's first school for female fetishists, which was founded in 1992 and recognised by ministerial decree in 2014, in Aniansué. The centre takes in more than twenty students each year, with the aim of training them in the occult sciences after three years.
