The idea of the Al Kasaba International Film Festival (Euro Mediterranean Films) is a joint action between Al Kasaba Theatre in Palestine, the Goethe Institute in Germany, the association "Cinema L' Atalante" from Bayonne, France and Al Jana Films Production in Lebanon. The organizing parties aim to enhance and strengthen the cultural exchange and cooperation between the Euro Mediterranean societies and cultures through organizing a Euro - Mediterranean Film Festival.

After the brilliant success of the European Film Festival organized by Al Kasaba Theatre & Cinematheque on April 8th-20th, 2004 illustrated by the number of participating countries, number of participating films and the number of audience, Al Kasaba Theatre & Cinematheque is encouraged to organize such an event annually.

The project targets Palestinian audience in general, and particularly Palestinian youth, women and families; people working in the cinema industry; European representative offices and consulates in Palestine; production and distribution companies etc.

Al Kasaba Theatre & Cinematheque's motto is to promote theatre and cinema in Palestine. The organization of international film festivals is a significant way of promoting cinema among the target groups.

Al Kasaba Theatre will also organize three seminars during the festival, Two in Ramallah and one in Germany.
