Doudou NDIAYE Rose is one of the leading figures in Senegalese music. He has developed a worldwide following for his extraordinary big band consisting entirely of tomtoms. The mixed male and female group from Senegal is conducted by Doudou N'Diaye Rose, the subject of this film.Drumming plays a vital social as well as musical role in Senegalese life. Traditionally associated with pounding maize, it is also used in tattooing ceremonies, wrestling matches, official occasions and, of course, for dancing.
