Choreographer, dancer and singer, unique figure of African contemporary dance, born in the Ivory Coast, Nabou Diop lived and worked in Senegal and France. Beginning her career in Congolese ballet lemba, her work nurtured the traditional choreography of Western Africa, permitted African dance to access diverse influences and inscribe itself in a formal contemporary language.
