Dear subsribers, followers and supporters

We are announcing today that the OAFF platform will be temporarily closed for the next months, to work on the transition to a new platform.

The last 11 months have been an amazing experience with you.

We have shown more than 80 movies, created and proofreaded 250 subtitles in French, English, Spanish, collaborated with famous international Film Festivals, opened the platform worldwide with web app, Android and iOS app.

This work was accomplished with a team 100% made of 60 passionate volunteers in 10+ countries who contributed to the platform: film translation, trailer editing, partnerships, contracts... It was all done with heart and hard work.

We are still fully dedicated to the promotion of amazing works, emerging talents, and to share Africa and its creativity to the world.

Why this change?
We started with our crowdfunding (~39 000€ last august 2020) and unfortunately, we realised that the platform we are currently using doesn't fit the experience the spectator wants. Adding to this, we had financial difficulties to sustain the platform with our current model, based on the crowdfunding campaign and the subscriptions only.

Why now ?
This is the right time for us to rework our platform, prepare our films for you, and make an even better platform. We want you to be able to have a flawless experience on the platform, watch beautiful movies from Africa and its diasporas, without having to pay a high subscription price.

We also realised that for us to have a better impact, we should focus on developing our own media to support and promote the films we want you to discover.
Africa and its cultures, specially cinema, still lacks global awareness, and we wish to contribute to this with our work.

What happens now?
The platform will be shut down on October 20th, meaning you won't be able to watch any films after this date. From this Friday 1st October, all new registration will be disabled. Only the users with an active account will be able to stream the films.

What about your subscription?
If you have a monthly subscription, you don't have to worry, you won't be billed for October.
If you have a "lifetime" access that you got during our crowfunding, we will grant you an access on the future platform.

What's the plan?
We are already working on the new platform and we will introduce you to the new project next January 2022. We will also work on developping our Youtube Channel with original content about African cinema.
